SPECIAL PROJECT OPP: BRIDGESTONE 2020 OLYMPIC SKATEBOARD
Background:
• Bridgestone is a corporate sponsor of the 2020 olympics in Tokyo
• Sponsors were asked to submit a skateboard deck design
• Bridgestone has asked University of Akron design students to design this skateboard (This is a project they have done for the last 2 olympics on their own and using external design firms.)
• The selected design will be professionally applied to a skateboard by Element
• That will then be hung in the 2020 Team USA House in Tokyo
Overview:
• Template, content requirements, notes and past examples can be found in file links below
• Each student can submit up to 3 deck concepts
• Top 12 designs will be chosen by faculty and those students will move forward with refined versions following input from faculty and Bridgestone
• From those 12 refined designs, the top 3 designs would be selected
• These three designs would go nationally to all Bridgestone employees for online voting
• Top 1 moves on to Olympic committee for approval and then to Element for graphic application
• This project is not a requirement for the class nor will it be graded, participation is by choice only

Bridgestone Manual:
Link below to reference the brand manual but DO NOT download or distribute.
You can of course download any logos that you will use in their designs.
For external distributors, advertising or public relations agencies, or other vendors
This site will provide limited access to the brand manual with only the most relevant information for vendors and other third parties who are contracted to work with, or have a relationship with, a Bridgestone Group company; they will be able to browse the site but will be unable to print or download the manual. This will ensure that these third parties have access to the most up-to-date information at any time without our having to contact them with updates."

• Abide by rules in the manual
• Some imagery will be declined like skulls, anything too graphic or inappropriate.
